How can a good god allow 39 people to die in a lorry in Essex?

There seems to be no evidence of an interventionist god. The effectiveness of prayer seems no better than random. Jesus doesn’t help here as he never answers back. When you think about it, my faith seems totally pointless and contrary to all reason. Which is precisely what makes it so important.
