Staggeringly Revd Nicholas Baines, Bishop of Leeds, West Yorkshire, the Dales and any other bits that can’t afford their own bishop any more

And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, me. What was it like being 007, like I was? It’s the question I’m always asked when I tell people, as I often do, that I used to do something much more interesting. I’ve mentioned it before on this programme but no one ever seems to pick up on it. Well this time I’m making it the main point, so you’ll have no choice.

Being a spy is the same as being a bishop. What is the meaning of life? Where does morality come from? They come from the Invisible Magic Friend. I learned this in theology. Isn’t theology great.

But we must always be open to other points of view, just like Thought for the Day is.

Rev Dr Rob Marshall, Priest at St John the Evangelist, Welwyn Garden City

The graveyards are full. What are we going to do with all the dead bodies?

I’ve searched the Big Book of Magic Stuff and it doesn’t say what to do. Would you believe it, not a single instruction on where to put all the dead people. So I’ll go on quoting the Book of Common Prayer and Cardinal Newman as if they were somehow relevant.
