Politicians are complaining about judges not doing what politicians tell them to. This raises constitional questions about the balance between a democratically elected government and an independent judiciary.

To find out where this balance lays, we ask Jesus. Jesus gives us the parable of the Good Samaritan. This parable fits so perfectly with this complex constitutional question that I’m surprised more people haven’t referred to it. It tells us all we need to know.

People in Britain and elsewhere are moving to political extremes. Everyone is out to blame others. Buddhism teaches that we must free ourselves from these political ideologies. We can then address our problems more constructively.
