Yes, some priests have committed terrible crimes against children. Yes, the Church has hushed it all up and promoted the perpetrators. Yes, the Church has used every legal device at its disposal to avoid taking responsibility. Yes, the Church has used its power, wealth, influence and prestige to humiliate and sideline the victims. Yes, there’s always a few bad apples, like the two most senior archbishops in the Church of England.

But at heart, the Church is essentially very humble. Just like the baby Jesus and Christmas.

The government wants to build 1.5m homes. But builders says there aren’t enough builders. This is EXACTLY what Jesus said. “Don’t cut off your supply of skilled labour,” he said. Although he certainly didn’t say the Bxxxxt word. No one is allowed to say the B word. I’m certainly not going to say the B word. Everything’s been brilliant since B, apart from just about everything.

My solution to the labour shortage, which Jesus agrees with, is to do something about it.
