Yes, the Church has used every legal device at its disposal to avoid taking responsibility. Yes, the Church has used its power, wealth, influence and prestige to humiliate and sideline the victims. Yes, there’s always a few bad apples, like the two most senior archbishops in the Church of England.

But at heart, the Church is essentially very humble. Just like the baby Jesus and Christmas.
