And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, Happy Feast of St Michael and All Angels everybody!

Angels are real spiritual beings with big flappy wings and long golden hair. They flap about doing good in the world and conquering evil wherever they find it. It was St Michael that cast out the Invisible Magic Baddy and stops him and his evil ways from prevailing. That’s why the world is the way it is today.

And I’d just like to point out that loads of people believe in angels. So I’m not some kind of loony that’s been let loose on your radio during the morning news programme.

The Double Cluster in Perseus

It was a glorious starlit night last night, with no wind and no moon to spoil it. Even my neighbours co-operated and kept all their spotlights off. I turned my telescope to one of my favourite objects in the night sky, the Double Cluster in Perseus.

This is a really easy find with binoculars, or if you’re really lucky with good eyesight and a dark location, the naked eye. Look northeast just after dark and locate the W of Cassiopeia. Extend the right side of the left hand V and it points right to it. It’s unmistakable and a beautiful sight.

And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, I forgot to give a talk at one of those jet setting, globetrotting conferences that we Christians are always having, in between multi-faith buffets.

I know. These shocking headlines have rocked the world.

Which brings me to autumn, leaves, acorns and Jesus. The National Trust too. Also, words like subtraction and exponential sound good.

And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, I’ve been to some art exhibitions. Also Lebanon and abuse by Catholic priests that happened long in the past and doesn’t happen any more. But Harrods did it too.

There are witnesses. There were also witnesses to Jesus being murdered by the Romans. They wrote it down straight away, so we know for certain that this definitely happened.

And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, Happy Birthday of St Francis of Assisi everybody!

St Francis was not Rupert Murdoch. That’s the news bit.

Jesus said to give sell everything you have and give it to the poor. Of course he didn’t mean that literally. He must have been talking metaphorically, or about rich people, or about those who are too attached to material wealth. He obviously didn’t mean me.
