Martin Wroe, Writer, Journalist, and oh yes incidentally, Assistant Vicar of St Luke’s Church, Islington

People are choosing not to have funerals in proper, solemn, sacred places like churches. Many are choosing instead to have scurrilous, irreverent “celebrations of life”. There are some who don’t even mention the Invisible Magic Friend at all.

Gold medal winners have to sacrifice a great deal to be the best.

This is exactly the same as becoming a Christian. Except we don’t get a gold medal and don’t have to give up anything.

We sit alone for hours, muttering incantations, with no reply from the Invisible Magic Friend. It’s almost as if he isn’t there.

Chester zoo is celebrating the birth of Jasper the Persian Donkey.

The reason Jasper is so important is because he is part of the Invisible Magic Friend’s varied creation. All Species were personally invented by him because he’s so brilliant. That, and a donkey gets mentioned in the Big Book of Magic Stuff. Yes, donkeys are THAT important.

Charles Dickens had nothing whatever to say about Persian Donkeys, but I’ll mention him anyway, as I’m a professor of literature as well as theology.
