Some people think precious religious objects should be put in some remote, obscure temple, instead of in the British Museum where all historical artifacts rightfully belong. For hundreds of years, the museum has looked after objects looted, sorry, transferred, from all over the world. There they can be seen in their proper context.

The museum looks after them for free. We haven’t even charged Greece to look after Lord Elgin’s personal marbles collection. Such is our generosity. And have they said thank you or shown even the slightest bit of gratitude? No, not a bit of it.

And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, Bristol airport’s new multi-faith room.

Nearly a quarter of people pray, meaning that three quarters don’t. The Invisible Magic Friend never replies because he can’t be bothered, but it’s worth doing regardless. It’s a kind of compulsive, repetitive disorder, where you can’t really be at rest until you do it. Again and again with no tangible result.

Prophet Song by Paul Lynch has won the 2023 Booker prize. It describes a future Ireland taken over by a bunch of right wing thugs. I can definitely say that this would be a bad thing. No Christian Church anywhere, any time, would ever have anything to do with right wing thugs.

It’s got the word “prophet” in the title. You’ll never guess where I’m going to go with this…
