Ex-Rev Canon Angela Tilby, Christ Church Cathedral Oxford

Putin says that The West started the war in Ukraine. Which brings me to Ash Wednesday. Oh, yes, Ash Wednesday. What a coincidence. I wasn’t going to mention it, but now that it’s popped up so naturally I may as well spend the rest of the time talking about Ash Wednesday.

Today is Ash Wednesday. What does Ash Wednesday mean? We’re all going to die.

Have a nice Ash Wednesday everyone.

Rev Dr Giles Fraser, Vicar of St. Anne’s church Kew

Roald Dahl’s books are being rewritten. They’ll want to rewrite the Big Book of Magic Stuff next. The Big Book of Magic Stuff is a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, xenophobic, religiously intolerant, self contradictory, immoral, amoral, pile of random stories. Since it is always right about everything, this shows that rewriting a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, xenophobic, religiously intolerant, self contradictory, immoral, amoral, pile of random stories is a Bad Thing. They should leave Roald Dahl’s books alone.

Dr Chetna Kang, Psychiatrist and Hindu Priest in the Bhakti Yoga/Vaisnava tradition

And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, science has shown that even four year olds can show compassion. That was the news. I’m going to spend the other 2 minutes and 40 seconds talking about being spiritual.

Four year olds aren’t very compassionate because they’re only just starting to be spiritual. Compassion occurs when people are spiritual. You cannot have compassion, or be a carer, without being spiritual. The more spiritual you are, the better at caring you become.

Very spiritual people, like me, are amazingly compassionate. With the kind of limited spirituality you’ve got, you can’t even imagine how brilliantly compassionate I am. But you can work on it. Just talk to yourself as if you have an Invisible Magic Friend. As you talk more and more to yourself, you’ll become more and more spiritual. Eventually, you’ll spend all your time talking to yourself and be the best carer there ever was.

Now actually Rev Jayne Manfredi

And in the Big News today from a Faith Perspective, the menopause from a Faith Perspective.

Everybody, and by everybody I mean you, thinks the menopause is a terrible experience. But there are positive stories too, mainly from those for whom it is over. You may find this difficult to believe, but it turns out there are things we can do after the menopause, and older women aren’t useless, burnt out, passed it, old has beans after all. No, honestly, older women are people too, and I think it’s absolutely appalling that you all think otherwise.

And if you’re struggling to get HRT therapy, there’s always Jesus. Just take 2mg of Jesus, twice a day, and you’ll soon be back like a real woman.
