Jasvir Singh, Chair of the City Sikhs Network, Co-chair of Faiths Forum 4 London

Has anyone mentioned the Queen yet? Thought not. The Queen has been replaced by the King. This is exactly the same as the transfer of guruship. Continuity is key. The King, by being born into the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha-Mountbatten-Windsor family, inherits the same happy, united land that the Queen left behind.

Mona Siddiqui, professor of Islamic studies, New College, University of Edinburgh

I was at the same jolly, sorry, conference as Jasvir Singh, Chair of the City Sikhs Network, Co-chair of Faiths Forum 4 London, and possibly several other TFTD presenters, when the Queen died. But I couldn’t talk to them about it because they wouldn’t understand.

Islam says that life is both beautiful and painful. Well it certainly got that bit right.

Fearsomely Reverend James Jones, ex-Lord Bishop of Liverpool and Bishop of Prisons

Did you get to stay at Windsor after dinner with the Queen? I did.

The Queen was head of the faith and terribly interested in faith, horses and dogs. Skipping the horses and dogs, I’d like to dwell on faith. It’s a well known fact that faiths all get on terribly…

…well with each other when left to themselves. It’s only outside forces that distort faiths and make them savagely hate and kill one another.

So find a faith, preferably the right one, and be like the Queen. Horses and dogs optional.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby

The Queen is dead. How sad. Anyway, let’s talk about Jesus and life after death and eternal life and all the other totally unsupported assertions that The Queen’s death gives me loads of chances to foist upon you, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it because that would look mean spirited and disrespectful.

Just before my slot we got another bishop of somewhere or other and I’ll be back on later to give you some more of this utter rubbish. In the weeks to come there’ll be all sorts of clergy with sad faces but wearing the most amazing embroidered frocks that you’ll be really impressed by. It’s going to be an absolutely fabulous dressing up sensation, in a very sad way of course.
