Quantum Mechanics is Obvious – the Movie Part 11

This is the penultimate episode in my series on the maths behind quantum mechanics. It’s getting really exciting now, isn’t it?

Last week we introduced wavefunctions as the continuous limit of our probability vectors. This week we have a look at the operators that act on them. And in a word, they’re weird.

This video was done in a bit of a rush. I might have to redo it at some point as my brain gets a bit garbled in places.

Next week, we go full on quantum mechanics, and our journey towards total weirdness is complete.

Fresher’s week is different this year because of the Invisible Magic Friend’s holy virus. This reminds me of university chaplains. This in turn reminds me of monasticism. This reminds me of the Venerable Bede. This reminds me of St. Paul. This reminds me of Jesus. Sorry, where was I?
