  1. Sport from a religious perspective again. I note that she chose to use Adam Peaty as an example rather than that other family man Tom Daley. Just saying.

  2. “The whole country’s watching the Olympics. That Adam Peaty’s said he wants to set a record that will stand for ever. Talk about competitive!

As a Christian, I don’t like anything that involves competition. That reminds me of capitalism, which is obviously evil.

Once Christians got their hands on the levers of power, they set about abolishing everything that wasn’t Christian. That included the original Olympic Games, which were pagan and therefore obviously evil. You just wait until we Christians get our hands on the levers of power again.

Jesus said that the last shall be first, and the first shall be last. For the past 2000 years, that’s been a great consolation to those who have come last. Maybe that Adam Peaty should be forced to come last for a change. That would teach him”.

  3. Yes, Ms McDonald’s BBOMS has many helpful adages such as ‘the first shall be last, and the last first;’ or ‘the greatest amongst you shall be the least,’ ‘it is better to give than to receive’ etc etc. I don’t know what they’re supposed to mean, and I don’t care – and what’s more, I don’t think she knows either.

Sport is about doing your best and trying to be the best; that is what makes it so attractive and exciting, and seeing people who have worked hard to be the very best, competing at the Olympics is really thrilling and uplifting. It has nothing to do with Ms McDonald’s IMF, and (with her scriptures offering nonsense like that quoted above) there is nothing she can say about it ‘from a faith perspective.’

Well done to all those GB and NI competitors who have brought wonderful performances to our TV screens.
