    Brian clearly derives comfort and consolation from his personal faith. It has to be said, though, that none of the virtues and values in his long list were originated by Christianity, or are unique to Christianity, or indeed to any specific religion or culture. All the more reason to celebrate them, but as universal values and virtues. No IMF required.

    Brian alluded in passing to the similarity of some of the symptoms of long Covid to those of ME. Maybe one unexpected spin-off from what we have learned about the virus works is a clue as to how ME might be treated. The existing treatments are, to put it mildly, of variable effectiveness.
